The Story of Stuff

Tuesday, January 27, 2009  •  Personal

We are using this quieter time to rethink what cool new things we can offer you this year - what do you want? If you have ideas let us know.

While I have been looking around at different ideas, products - I have been thinking of about our environment and what stuff matters. This seems more and more important in the changing economic times that surround us. For me the stuff that really matters - is the value of family and friends and acknowledging the support and love this system provides in my daily life - while it seems there is much we can do without - there are somethings that are important to have and hold. That is why I love my work so much - the privilege of recording a moment in time in a family's history and recording relationships these things are eternal and valuable - more so today than yesterday.

So anyway one of the sites I stumbled into and got sucked into is about the Stuff! If you are interested check this link out Stuff

The Final Image

Saturday, January 24, 2009  •  News

This is the first wedding season that we have decided to let unretouched images out to Brides and Grooms. I am extremely nervous about this. The camera image is a long way from being ready as a final Crackle Photography Custom Print. I have bowed to the pressure of the magazines and market but as I am explaining to all my clients there is a reason that you prefer our images to the one's Uncle Jim Bob took!

Below is an image straight from camera.

This is the Proof Image - the image has been color corrected and some contrast has been added to the image in a general way.

This image has been fully retouched, any skin blemishes have been removed, the image is burned and dodged to highlight important aspects, a slight vignette is added and local color adjustments made.

Below is the finished artwork - the retouched image is taken to a unique artistic level with special effects added to enhance it and create an original art piece. Effects used are dependent on the image, lighting and subject matter.

I hope this helps understand the difference between an unretouched file and the finished product that we create.

Have a great weekend!
